More Tips for Training a Labrador Puppy
In part one of Tips for Training a Labrador Puppy we covered praise, possibly using clickers and types of collars.
|
Tip #5: Don't encourage bad behavior. If you don't want to pup to jump on people don't encourage it to jump on you when you walk thru the door. Cute as a pup. A problem when it's full grown.
Tip #6 You can allow the puppy to drag a lead on collar around the house. When he steps on the lead, he'll learn to give to the lead.
|
Tip #7: When training the puppy, make sure there are no distractions such as children or other animals or an errant toy just waiting to be picked up.
Bonus Tip: If you want to enroll your puppy in an obedience class, do it when he's fourteen to sixteen weeks old after shots. Before signing up for the class, observe a class and make certain positive training is used. Find a class where other dogs and owners are satisfied
Those are your seven tips for training a Labrador puppy. Again, a puppy is a puppy. Only temperament testing of your dog can tell you what specific steps will work best for you Labrador.
